We read a bit about the factory model school day in Promoting Harmony. This is certainly not a new idea brought about by modern day schooling (21st Century). I remember reading, discussing, and writing about this concept while taking the (graduate level) history and philosophy of education course—I believe it was discussed by Jean-Jacques Rousseau in his work entitled Emile, or On Education (1762).
I am intrigued by Sir Ken-Robinson, the creativity expert from Britian, and his presentations on TedTalks. His talk, Changing Education Paradigms discusses this "Factory Model" concept from a 21st Century perspective. This particular presentation is from the RSA: 21st Century Enlightenment Organization's RSA Animate website.
